Security Best Practices

  • configure user access in the system according to users' roles and responsibilities. Users should have the minimum level of security access needed to perform their job tasks in the system.
  • train system users on the importance of maintaining the confidentiality of their system passwords. If users ever share their passwords with another user, we recommend that users change their password immediately.
  • require employees to change their company-assigned passwords the first time they log in to the system.
  • require or recommend that your users change their passwords every 90 days or another frequency.
  • require or recommend that your users create more complex passwords that have a minimum of 8 characters and that use symbols or numbers in addition to letters.
